The surge in oil prices has put enormous pressure on the cost of plastic Sharp Container. Crude oil price have been exceed USD100 which price was USD60 on 2025 year. The war with Iran led to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, disrupting maritime transport of oil and other goods. World oil prices surged due to supply disruptions and war-related anxieties.
This led to a 50% surge in the price of polypropylene, the raw material for plastic sharps containers, as polypropylene is a petroleum derivative. In plastic sharps containers, the cost of plastic raw materials such as polypropylene (PP) typically accounts for 60%–70% of the total cost.
Why is polypropylene (PP) used in such a high proportion?
High usage (high weight percentage) Sharps containers are typically “thick-walled structure + puncture-resistant”.
PP usually accounts for 95-100% of the total weight of the product. High material requirements: puncture resistance, impact resistance, medical-grade stability, high temperature resistance (some are sterilizable). Structural components are almost entirely plastic: body, lid, buckles, knobs, etc. Very little metal/other materials.
Dailymag fulfilled all orders placed before March and, to the greatest extent possible, kept the price of its Sharps Containers unchanged for long-term customers.
We sincerely hope that the situation in Iran and the Middle East can be resolved, and we wish for lasting world peace.
